Live from The Grand Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA!

The jam packed Grand Olympic Auditorium is ready for a night of hard hitting GOLDEN STATE WRESTLING action as STARRCADE comes to the southland!

MATCH #1
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan d. George “The Animal” Steele via pinfall after an amazing hurricanrana. – **
– Duggan looked strong and impressed the crowd with an unexpected hurricanrana to put The Animal away.

MATCH #2
“Cowboy” Bob Orton d. Koko B. Ware via pinfall after a SUPERPLEX. – *
– Completely different from their last encounter, Orton dominated and easily got the win here.

MATCH #3
HARDCORE TEXAS DEATH MATCH

The Missing Link d. One Man Gang via pinfall with a BACK FLYING HEADBUTT. – ***1/2 – This one was as wild as people predicted. At one point Sir Oliver Humperdink was ejected after he tried to break up a pin attempt. After the match, the bloodied Link seemed calmer than he’d been in recent weeks. Was this the match needed to calm the Link down? Time will tell.

MATCH #4
MILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION d. THE KILLER BEES via submission when Ted DiBiase locked the MILLION DOLLAR DREAM on Jumping Jim Brunzell – **1/2

MATCH #5
3 on 3 GAUNTLET MATCH
GAUNTLET MATCH #1
King Kong Bundy d. Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka via pinfall after the AVALANCHE thanks to interference by Bobby Heenan. – **

GAUNTLET MATCH #2
Cousin Luke d. King Kong Bundy via DQ when Bundy rammed Luke into the rail at ringside despite the ref’s warnings. – *** – An amazing match that saw Cousin Luke kick out of the AVALANCHE at one point!

GAUNTLET MATCH #3
Mr. Perfect d. Cousin Luke via pinfall with the PERFECT PLEX. – ** – Luke hung in there but the damage was done in his match with Bundy.

After this match everyone was waiting to see who Snuka and Luke had recruited for their team and soon it was revealed when ANDRE THE GIANT walked through the curtain! The crowd went nuts.

GAUNTLET MATCH #4
Mr. Perfect d. Andre The Giant via DQ when Andre refused to stop brawling. – * – Heenan’s men pull out the win in the Gauntlet match! Heenan was ecstatic, but it was apparent this feud is far from over!

MATCH #6
THE DREAM TEAM d. THE BUSHWHACKERS via DQ when Bushwhacker Luke refused to bring the action back into the ring. – *1/2 – Short match between these two teams. THE DREAM TEAM were visibly upset they were not going for the belts tonight. They wanted to prove a point by winning here, but the BUSHWHACKERS were up to their normal antics and got themselves DQ’d.

MATCH #7
STEEL CAGE MATCH

Magnificent Muraco d. Unknown by escaping the cage after an Asiatic Spike – *** – This was practically a squash. Muraco was furious at the way this Unknown character had been attacking him week in and week out and then injuring him, so he didn’t let Unknown get in any offense. After knocking him cold with the Asiatic Spike and getting the win, Muraco climbed back into the ring and ripped off the mask revealing Unknown’s true identity! It was none other than Terry Gordy! The wrestler who won the Rookie Brawl at the start of the year. The crowd cheered loudly and this infuriated Muraco more as he’d won the match.

MATCH #8
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

THE BOLSHEVIKS d. THE ROAD WARRIORS via pinfall after Volkoff hit Animal with a running stomp. – ***3/4 – THE ROAD WARRIORS were so close to winning several times. They even fended off interference by the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION The Iron Sheik! But they actually got cocky and instead of going for the win, they allowed the Russian’s to find a chink in the armor and get the win and claim the WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP! They celebrated in the ring and stayed with The Iron Sheik as he prepared for the main event!

MAIN EVENT
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
FINISHER MATCH
The Iron Sheik d. “Ravishing” Rick Rude via submission with the CAMEL CLUTCH. – ****1/4 – Another amazing match. Rude dominated but just couldn’t find the opportunity to hit the RUDE AWAKENING! The veteran Iron Sheik took his time and soon found himself in the right position to lock in the CAMEL CLUTCH and soon Rude was submitting, much to the chagrin of Bobby Heenan! The Iron Sheik retains and the realization sunk in that

The Iron Sheik and THE BOLSHEVIKS now hold all the gold in GOLDEN STATE WRESTLING! Volkoff treated us to the Russian National Anthem as the credits roll!

Goodnight, fans!

Grant, loved the show. Truly has an mid 80s WWF feel to it. Surprised to see Unknown go down so easily. Iron Sheik is a monster when he has gold around his waist as Ive learned in the past. Loved The Gauntlet match as well.
